Awareness
CBE Ignited! is a call to action. We are confident in providing hope to districts by shifting the traditional time-based system to a competency-based learning model, in which students progress at their own pace. CBE Ignited systemic approach creates focus on continual progress toward demonstration of clearly articulated competencies for each student.
Readiness
District Leadership Team (DLT) completes a readiness survey based on the following indicators: instructional strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of students; teachers and administrators committed to creating effective schools; safe schools and evidence of diversity ,equity and inclusive curriculum for students’ future; guaranteed and viable curriculum; quality teachers in every classroom.
First Implementation
CBE Ignited works alongside the district leadership team to train a group of stakeholders to show what it looks like as a pilot. This involves a minimum of 20% of the staff. Work includes training, implementing in pilot classrooms, on-going classroom observations and feedback, and a customized district roadmap.
Routine
Once the proof of concept is established, training continues for 100% of the district stakeholders (leaders, staff, certified & non-certified personnel, board members, community and students). District Leadership Team (DLT) has 80% of staff and at least 20% of the schools committed to training. School Leadership Teams (SLT) have teacher leaders and coaches trained to support CBE implementation.
Refinement
District Leadership Team (DLT) reviews and refines the tools and processes based on results and begins to document the district level journey. CBE Ignited partners are alongside the district the entire journey; front-loading the training and assistance and then gradually releasing control as leaders are able to move forward on their own; modeling what we do with our students.
Replication
District Leadership Team and School Leadership Teams share their story by opening their schools for others to visit. CBE Ignited assists in developing common tools that ensure visitors see a full picture of the components necessary to implement the system in their own place.
